Dr. Tony Awojoodu, Senior Director of Business Development at DaVita, shares powerful insights into the silent crisis of kidney disease, which disproportionately affects Black and Latino communities. He explains that kidney disease is often preventable, yet overlooked due to lack of healthcare access, health literacy, and time—especially in underserved communities where people work multiple jobs just to survive. His message? Early screenings, time management, and healthier lifestyle choices like diet and movement are critical first steps.
Beyond his corporate leadership, Dr. Awojoodu is also the founder of Tones Professional Advisory Solutions, where he helps underrepresented professionals find purpose, build career confidence, and create generational wealth. His coaching philosophy centers on the belief that “you can’t pour into others if your own cup is empty.”
From normalizing conversations about health to fighting misinformation, Dr. Awojoodu calls on his fellow changemakers to “stay the course” and build community through awareness, action, and hope.
Watch the full episode to hear how Dr. Awojoodu is blending leadership, compassion, and lived experience to spark change.
