to research in low-income and middle-income countries and related teaching, the institutes
annually receive about £115 million (LSTM) and £180 million (LSHTM) in research grant
income from various funding bodies, including UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), the
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Wellcome Trust.
