Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM), in particular Black, Latino, and American Indian/Alaska Native men, are the groups most disproportionately impacted by HIV in the United States. In 2020, they accounted for 70% of new HIV infections even though they comprised only 2% of the U.S. population. For this reason, they are among the priority populations identified in the National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS) so federal agencies and other stakeholders can focus their efforts and resources to achieve the greatest impact on ending the HIV epidemic in the United States.

The annual observance of National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NGMHAAD) is September 27th, and there are multiple resources to help you plan activities or outreach. Visit the websites below for information to help observe NGMHAAD.
