The April 29, 2021 segment of Equitable Encounters: Real Talk About Race focused on microaggressions – a subtle, often unconscious prejudice that results in discrimination against a member of an oppressed or marginalized group with Jennifer R. Jones-Damis, PsyD, LPC (NY and NJ). In her presentation, Dr. Jones-Damis shared an introduction on the concept of microaggressions and how they cause harm to employees when left unaddressed, and helpful behaviors such as microaffirmations that are effective in creating opportunities for inclusion and caring. Attendees had an opportunity answer questions and gain clarity on how to properly address microaggressions especially in the workplace.
