BodyArmor’s ties with pushing Kobe Bryant’s legacy forward continues.

In 2014, the late NBA legend invested $6 million into the sports drink company then, last year it was acquired by Coca-Cola for $5.6 billion — reportedly bringing in over $400 million to his estate — per a previous report by AfroTech. Bryant’s investment into the company greatly paid off and now, BodyArmor is investing right back into his foundation.

BodyArrmor’s Big Gift

Boardroom reports that BodyArmor has partnered with the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation (MMSF), which includes a $24 million joint donation courtesy of the company and co-founder Mike Repole — making it MMSF’s single largest investment to date.

“I’m going to make sure this foundation gets bigger than the Ronald McDonald House, Repole told Boardroom. “What Vanessa and the girls want to do for underserved boys and girls with the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation is to change lives. It’s not just about getting them the physical tools or on the courts in the right uniforms. It’s about what it does for kids mentally and confidence-wise.”

He continued: “Vanessa is going to change hundreds of thousands of lives, it is amazing. I wouldn’t let BodyArmor fail with Kobe and I’m going to make sure I’m by her side, step by step to make this foundation as big as it can be.”

Expanding MMSF

According to the outlet, BodyArmor plans to refurbish a minimum of eight basketball courts across the country this year, along with funding youth clinics and renovate sports facilities.

Continuing To Create An Impact

In February, MMSF launched its store and sold limited-edition merchandise in honor of Kobe and Gianna Bryant, as previously shared by AfroTech.

The collection went on to sell out in less than 24 minutes and 100% of the net proceeds went toward “furthering the Foundation’s mission for creating impact for underserved athletes and boys & girls in sports,” according to the Foundation’s Instagram.
