A principal pleasure of the preview for Frieze London, which took place this week, isn’t looking at art but people-watching – especially witnessing how the fair’s “VIPs” cope with the long queue to get in. Dressed in camel cashmere overcoats, creamy fur gilets, and two-piece Gucci tracksuits, these fashionistas and one-percenters are not accustomed to wait in line, and many devise ruses, subtle or blunt, to avoid hanging around.
