Psychiatrist and Bestselling Author Releases Guidebook to Help Black Women Find Peace

People often go through life in the pursuit of peace, but after much effort, may decide that this goal is unattainable. Many experience lows that they’ve never seen before and wonder if they will come out of them. To dispel the myth that peace cannot be achieved, Nicole B. Washington, DO, MPH has released From Introspection to Action: Carving Your Path to Peace.

BROKEN ARROW, OK – February 18, 2022 – In From Introspection to Action, bestselling author and psychiatrist Dr. Nicole helps Black women define what peace means to them—as it is unique to everybody—and takes them through tangible and concrete steps for making their desires for peace a reality. Through this conversational, easy-to-read guide, readers will be supported along their journey as they carve out their own path to a more peaceful existence.

“Lack of peace is a common theme I see in my practice. Over a span of 18 months, I have had these conversations repeatedly with women who were tired and felt disturbed in their spirit even before the pandemic hit, and these issues have just been accentuated since then,” says Dr. Nicole.

The topics covered in From Introspection to Action, such as defining your peace, confronting what disturbs your peace, and sitting comfortably in the present, are intended to educate readers on mental health topics while exploring both the internal and external factors that interfere with reaching a place of peace. Packed with wisdom, affirmations, introspective questions, and tried and tested tools and techniques—including some readers may not have previously thought of—Black women who have felt that the peace they seek is out of reach will be encouraged not to wait another second to step into their best life.

From Introspection to Action will empower women to take the necessary steps and be more proactive about achieving, sustaining, and protecting their peace. “Reaching a place of peace and then maintaining that peace can be a daunting task, but it begins and ends with you.”

Dr. Nicole B. Washington is a board-certified psychiatrist and author. Dr. Nicole has spent most of her career caring for and being an advocate for those who are not typically consumers of mental health services, namely underserved communities, those with severe mental illness, and high-performing professionals. Through her private practice, podcast, speaking, and writing, she seeks to provide education in efforts to decrease the stigma associated with psychiatric illness.
