The Heat: Do minorities lack trust in American media?

Nearly two-thirds of Black Americans say news coverage of Black people is more negative than it is for other ethnicities, according to the Pew Research Center.

In a study conducted earlier this year, a majority of nearly 5,000 Black people surveyed were critical of the media in the United States. Factors such as outlets pushing their own agendas, journalists not being well-informed, the speed of news distribution and lack of diversity and racism within newsrooms were cited in the report released last month.
