When Memory Fades: Facing Alzheimer’s in Our Communities
Alzheimer’s resources for caregivers

Alzheimer’s doesn’t just affect memory — it touches entire families, neighborhoods, and generations. For many Black and Hispanic households, it comes with extra burdens: late diagnoses, harder decisions, and fewer culturally aware resources. But that’s starting to change — thanks to the work of advocates, caregivers, and initiatives like Heart to Heart from the National Minority Quality Forum (NMQF).

The Truth: We’re Hit Harder

Did you know that 1 in 5 Black adults over 70 lives with Alzheimer’s? For Latino seniors over 65, it’s nearly 1 in 8. That’s significantly higher than the general population — and yet, our stories are often left out of the national conversation. Why? Because systemic gaps in access, language barriers, stigma, and a shortage of culturally competent care mean many families don’t get help until it’s too late. But your story doesn’t have to end that way.

The Heart to Heart campaign is here to flip the script. It’s not just a website — it’s a lifeline, packed with resources made for us, by people who understand us.
